Lesson Plan Supplemental Materials

Historic Tribes of Ohio Lesson Plan-4th Grade Social Studies
The fourth-grade year focuses on the early development of Ohio and the United States. In this lesson, student will focus on learning about the historic tribes, which occupied Ohio during the 1700’s. By the end of the lesson, they should know the following about each of the tribes: where they came from, famous leaders, language, types of homes, culture and fun facts about each tribe. The students will be using laptop computers to do the research. The students will be organized into small groups/tribes to gather information about an assigned tribe and create a Glogster page about it. Students will be given a ruberic to follow when creating their project. Each tribe will share the information with their classmates and an informal post-assessment game called Historic Tribe jeopardy will be played to find out what the students learned.

Iroquois Story Cube Link-Sample
The teacher will send home story cubes generated by online free software cube creator on Read Think Write. The study information on the cube will be obtained from the pre-assessment quiz. The student will be asked to cut and put together the story cube at home. This information will serve as review activity at home for what the children read in their social studies book. This information will help them when they play “Jeopardy”. On the last day of class.
